The College Football Lock of the Week for week four will tackle a game on the west coast. Last week the lock of the week was an easy winner as Clemson defeated Auburn breaking the nation's longest winning streak. Looking to build on the winning streak, this week's lock of the week is that the Oregon State Beavers will defeat the UCLA Bruins.
The line is the first indication that the Beavers are the play in this game. The Beavers have yet to win on the season and lost a pathetic game to Sacramento State. Now they are at home and are hosting the UCLA Bruins. The Bruins have played tough with several top tier opponents and now enter this game as two point underdogs. The public will gobble up the Bruins as underdogs, but they are on the wrong side.
The college football sports betting trends favor the Beavers in this matchup. The Bruins are 11-31-1 against the number when playing a team with a losing record and are 6-18 ATS in their last 24 games as an underdog. The Bruins are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 conference games, 0-5 ATS in their last five road games, and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games in September. Regardless of the trends the teams still have to play this game on the field.
College Football Lock Of The Week
Freshman quarterback Sean Mannion leads the way for the Beavers and since taking over the top spot he has performed admirably. He has connected on 25-of-38 passes for 244 yards against a tough Wisconsin Badgers defense and he will be successful against a Bruins defense that is not as demanding. Junior QB Ryan Katz could also see some playing time in this contest giving the Beavers a double threat. The Beavers have had a bye week to prepare for this game and refocus.
The Bruins are off a tough loss to the Texas Longhorns and they will have a hangover entering this game. They have trouble at quarterback where head coach Rick Neuheisel has juggled two quarterbacks during the season. This has caused inconsistencies on offense as well as turnovers. Richard Brehaut was named the starter Sunday after Kevin Prince's three-interception first quarter against Texas.
Oregon State superstar James Rodgers, who is recovering from a severe knee injury, is expected to return Saturday against UCLA, and has practiced all week at full speed. Rodgers will add a new dimension to the offense that will allow the Beavers to put up points early and often.
