Greg McElroy Blasts the Jets Locker Room: Calls Out Team as "extremely selfish individuals" The New York Jets exploded down the stretch and the New York media is pointing fingers. Rex Ryan is under fire for losing the "pulse of the team", Mark Sanchez took some heat for his play on the field, and Santonio Holmes quit on the team.

The New York media is legendary for blowing up stories, but all of the turmoil in the Jets locker room when rookie quarterback Greg McElroy took to the airwaves.

In an interview with a Birmingham radio station the rookie did not hold back and he blasted the Jets locker room.

Greg McElroy Blasts the Jets

"It's definitely not a fun place to be, I can assure you," McElroy said in an interview with Alabama radio station 97.3 The Zone.

"It's the first time I've ever been around extremely selfish individuals, and I think that's maybe the nature of the NFL.

"But there were people within our locker room that didn't care whether we won or lost, as long as they got their … they really had good games individually. That's the disappointing thing, and it's going to take a lot to kind of come together."

Wow.

While some may reprimand the rookie for spouting off at the mouth about his team, he should be applauded. It's about time someone stood up and started blaming the team for the poor play on the field and the selfish attitude off the field.

"I think the fact that we struggled at times this year really led to a really just corrupt mindset within the locker room," McElroy said. "But I think we're going to regroup, and I know we're going to be a better team because of the trials and tribulations this year."

In the interview, McElroy backed his coach, and lauded the team for the tremendous talent, but ultimately blamed the lack of chemistry for the failure this season.

This is just one sign that the Jets have to make MAJOR moves this offseason to fix a big problem, and no one should be exempt. In fact perhaps a big move will shake the foundation of the team and send a clear message that this type of attitude will not be accepted.

Veterans and Jet fans may be upset with McElroy's comments, but they are true and long overdue. The truth is this rookie made a veteran move by holding the team accountable.
