Monday Night Football Pick: Eagles at Redskins

Monday Night Football Pick: Eagles at Redskins Redskins QB Donovan McNabb was at the center of attention the first time these teams met due to it being a return trip for the 12-year vet to the city he spent his entire career playing for.

McNabb was catapulted back into the spotlight for the two-week lead up to this game as well, but on much less dignified grounds. It started when McNabb was pulled by first-year coach Mike Shanahan in the final stages of a game at Detroit. Rex Grossman was sent in to run the two-minute offense and it took exactly one play for the backup to fumble the game away.

Both McNabb and Shanahan claim its water under the bridge but tonight, in Washington's (4-4) first real action since the loss, bettors will have a chance to see what the chemistry is like for a .500 team that's already matched its win total from 2009.

DIVISIONAL DOGS DOMINATE

Online sportsbooks posted an opening line of Philadelphia (-3) and although the juice fluctuated throughout the week, bookmakers didn't move off the key number.

Results for divisional favorites through the first 13 games of Week 10 offer some insight.

- Divisional favorites in Week 10 were 2-5 ATS (0-2 ATS on the road)

It's not a revelation given the way the first half of the season has gone, it's more like a return to the norm.

Divisional favs started the season 5-21 ATS and although they started to turn a corner, going 8-3 ATS since Week 6, the overall mark for chalk bettors is now just 15-29 ATS.

A WEEK AND A DAY

With Michael Vick playing at his highest level since returning to the league in 2009, and Philadelphia's top two playmakers (RB McCoy and WR Jackson) back at full speed after a Week 8 bye, the Eagles carry a noticeable edge on offense in this contest.

- When the home team on Monday Night Football is coming off a bye and hosting a division rival, playing ON the road team has produced a 13-3 ATS record

NFL PICKS

There are question marks about the Redskins offense, most notably McNabb (hamstring) and RB Torain (hamstring). Both are likely to start and the caution flags from Shanahan are probably just a veteran coach keeping his cards close to the vest but this unit has struggled to consistently put points on the board all year.

Philadelphia has a chance to gain ground on the New York Giants and with Vick calling signals look for the Eagles to control the tempo of the game, win the matchups on the outside, and take back the win Washington stole in Week 4.

Pick: Take the Eagles
