The Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings meet in a divisional match up on the NFL week 10 edition of Monday Night Football.
It was not surprising to see that the NFL week 10 odds opened with the Packers listed as 13 point favorites. With the popular backing for the Pack that line ballooned to 14.5 in many offshore sportsbooks. The top rated online sportsbooks report that 63% of the betting money is coming in on the Packers, along with 79% of the money coming in on the over in this game which currently sits at 51.
In the last meeting rookie quarterback Christian Ponder made his very first start in the NFL. He played admirably in his first game as a pro tossing over 200 yards and two touchdowns. However this game showed something else that is worth nothing. The Minnesota Vikings had more total yards than the Packers, out gaining the Pack 435-421. Running back Adrian Peterson rushed 24 times for 175 yards against the vaunted Packer defense.
This game does have a vast difference from the last meeting because this game is in Green Bay, not in the comfort of the dome. However according to these NFL betting trends, it doesn’t matter. The Vikings are 8-3 against the spread (ATS) in their last 11 meetings in Green Bay, the road team is 13-6 ATS in their last 19 meetings, and the underdog is 18-7 against the number in the last 25 meetings.
There is no doubt that Aaron Rodgers (Please don’t call him A-Rod) is having an MVP season and he is off a game where he was near perfect. Against San Diego, Rodgers was 21 of 26 passing for four touchdowns. The reason that game is so amazing is because it is difficult to do. In the game against the Vikings, Rodgers was 24 of 30, but look for some correction in this game. In fact, many people fail to address the fact that the Vikings have better numbers on defense than the Packers.
That same defense was able to sack Rodgers four times in the last meeting and they know how to put pressure on the league's best quarterback. Don’t look for the outright upset by the Vikings, but this game will be closer than most people think.
