The Monday Night Football game in week 16 of the NFL regular season has the potential to be the best one of the year. The New Orleans Saints will host the Atlanta Falcons in a dogfight in the NFC South.
While both teams are already in the playoffs, the Falcons are out for revenge after losing earlier to the Saints. The NFL week 16 odds for Monday Night Football opened up with the Saints as 6.5 point favorites, but due to the public backing the home team at 67%, the line has gone up to 7 points or more at some offshore sportsbooks.
The Falcons will get a focused team that has played very good football of late and quarterback Drew Brees still has a very good chance of breaking plenty of records to include Dan Marino's all-time record. However, it may not be that easy against an underrated Falcons defense.
The Falcons are not considered one of the league's best teams, but maybe they should be. They have a top ranked defense (No. 9 overall), and they have an offense that can match up with the Saints on the field.
The Falcons have fared very well in the Big Easy and have covered 11 out of the last 16 visits against the spread. They are also 5-2 against the spread in the last nine games as an underdog, so they relish the moment. The Falcons and the Saints play rivalry football and that will give this game a playoff-like atmosphere and it should come down to the wire.
With that being said, this game should be very close and the points are the way to go in this event. I know the over will be the big play in this game, and while I am passing on the total, the Falcons can sneak into New Orleans on Monday Night and walk away winners.
