The Music City Bowl kicks off in the third game of the day on a busy schedule and will feature the Wake Forest Demon Deacons against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. This matchup will be very interesting as both teams have had some success in bowl games of late.
Music City Bowl
The Music City Bowl odds opened with the Bulldogs listed as 6.5 point favorites. That number has jumped up to a touchdown in several locations as 70% of the betting public is on Mississippi State. This could be mainly due to the fact that the Bulldogs have experience and they play in the SEC, arguably the toughest conference in college football.
The truth is, both these teas were just 6-6 on the season and squeaked into the bowl picture.
For Wake Forest on offense the game is all about quarterback Tanner Price. He needs only 103 yards to become the most prolific sophomore passer in school history, and is deadly accurate and does not turn over the ball. He is protected by a hug O-line. The offensive line is the biggest in school history, averaging 314 pounds per player, and will get a tough challenge against Mississippi State. The WF kids will be thrilled to play in this game, since they have not been to a bowl game since 2008.
The Bulldogs went to a bowl game a year ago and have a strong defense. Fletcher Cox anchors the defense for the Bulldogs and he has NFL caliber talent. While the defense will give the Deacons trouble, the Bulldogs offense lacks consistency.
The Demon Deacons are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games in December, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a loss, and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Bowl games.
The Deacons can keep this game close enough and will have a shot to win on the field.
Music City Bowl Pick Against the Spread: Wake Forest Demon Deacons +7
