It was one of their most disappointing performances of the playoffs. The Boston Celtics had a glorious opportunity to grab momentum and an NBA finals betting series lead on Tuesday night. It was not to be, as the Los Angeles Lakers were consistent throughout the game and played strong defense down the stretch. Sports Betting has the odds on Game 4 NBA playoff betting.
Coming in to NBA finals betting, no one expected Derek Fisher to be a determining factor in the series. Well, if we didn’t think so going in, we certainly are aware of the possibility now. Fisher was big in the Suns series and has come up even bigger in this series. His three-point play (layup and the foul) in the final minute sealed the deal in Game 2. Boston has to start accounting for his shot from the outside and his ability to get to the basket. But most importantly, Fisher is drawing key fouls on the Boston starters. He really has been the X-factor thus far.
As for Boston, the Celtics basketball betting odds aren’t going to get better unless Paul Pierce starts being a factor. The 2008 NBA finals MVP has not dominated for any stretch yet in this series. The Celtics desperately need some outside scoring to draw out the Lakers defenders. Despite being the hero of Game 2, Ray Allen had a horrible Game 3 performance, routinely missing open shots. If neither Pierce nor Allen are going to score, it will be a short series.
Currently, online sportsbooks have the Celtics as -3.5 betting favorites. The Lakers are +150 on the moneyline, while Boston is -170 for basketball betting aficionados.
On the plus side for Los Angeles, they got more out of Lamar Odom in Game 3 than they did in the first two games combined. In addition, they didn’t need Kobe Bryant to take over the fourth quarter, either.
As for Boston, they got the best effort of the postseason from Kevin Garnett. He led the Celtics in scoring in Game 3 and will look to keep his strong play going in Game 4.
Expect a desperate Boston club to play their best game of the series. Money is coming in on the Celtics at -3.5, as bettors are looking for that big effort. As of Thursday morning, 68% of the volume was on the home side.
