NCAA Betting: Georgia Tech vs. Miami A big ACC battle kicks off the third week of NCAA football betting action. Tonight’s feature Thursday night game is a Top 25 battle between the No. 14 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the host No. 20 Miami Hurricanes.

The Canes are currently a 5.5-point favorite and this number might still go up (it opened at 4.5 points). We could see 6 by game time if the betting action continues as it is. Sports bettors are lining up solidly behind the home favorite right now, with online sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com reporting 70% of the action tipped to Miami.

Miami is coming off an impressive win over Florida State to open the season with a 1-0 mark, while Georgia Tech is 2-0, having played both weeks. Tech picked up their second win of the season last week, beating the Clemson Tigers 30-27 in another Thursday night battle. The Yellow Jackets had a 24-7 lead going into the half, which had their backers feeling good about cashing a ticket, but they allowed the Tigers to come (Clemson took a 27-24 lead with in the fourth quarter). They finally pulled out the win but couldn’t cover the 5.5-points.

The Canes have struggled recently vs. the Yellow Jackets, but then again this team has struggled vs. most decent teams the last several years. That is why this game is so important to both teams, but particularly the Miami program. A win here signals they might be relevant again on a national level.

Miami is currently on a four-game losing streak vs. Georgia Tech, losing both straight up and against the spread in all four games. And in their last 15 games in this pointspread situation (favored by 6-points or less), they haven’t exactly delivered for their backers, putting up an unimpressive 5-10 ATS mark.

In their last nine when an underdog of 6-points or less, the Yellow Jackets aren’t sharp either going 2-7 ATS.

However, Over/Under bettors take note: in their last 13 games when listed at +6 and less, Georgia Tech has posted 1 Over and 12 Unders, including 8 Unders in a row. Those are pretty compelling numbers.

The Total is set at 54, but the betting action has favored the “Under” and this betting trend appears to be increasing as of Thursday morning. The “Under” has 57% to 60% of the volume at a few online sportsbooks.
