The Pinstripe Bowl takes places in Yankees stadium and features the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and the Iowa State Cyclones. This is basically a home game for Rutgers who plays their regular season games in the Big East conference.
Pinstripe Bowl Pick
The Pinstripe Bowl odds opened with the Scarlet Knights listed as just one point favorites, but that line has leap frogged over to the Cyclones and they are now one point favorites. This is mainly due to the fact that 64% of the betting public is on the Cyclones, and maybe rightfully so.
The Cyclones had one of the biggest wins of the season when they defeated Oklahoma State. They also beat a ranked Texas Tech team and five of its six losses came against ranked opponents. The Cyclones have the talent and the offense that can go up against the Knights defense.
Rutgers main strength is their defense and the home field.
"Certainly looking forward to having a lot of Rutgers faithful in the stands," coach Greg Schiano said Thursday afternoon at the final pre-game news conference at Yankee Stadium. "You know how that can become a big advantage in a football game."
He is going to need it to help this offense. Rutgers offense is ranked No. 115 out of 120 Division I teams in rushing and No. 100 in total offense.
The Cyclones are 18-8 ATS in their last 26 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog.
Iowa State quarterback Jared Barnett will be the player to watch in this game and will keep this game close enough to win. The Cyclones will use their experience against ranked teams to win this game.
Pinstripe Bowl Pick Against the Spread: Iowa State -1
