According to reports, a United States Attorney (for the U.S. Justice Department in New York) has frozen the accounts of a large online eCheck processor, and has effectively put them out of business.
Both PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker were heavily affected by this, and players at these poker rooms that have recently received payment of winnings by check would be well advised to verify that the check is good with its respective company prior to trying to negotiate it. There is a real danger that the checks could bounce, as many players at these companies have reported receipt of "rubber checks".
At this stage there are no reports of other big poker rooms being affected. Still, it will be worth a few minutes of your time via live chat or on the phone to verify that any check you have received from ANY poker room within the coming several weeks is good, prior to depositing such.
