Delaware Governor Signs Sports Betting Law, NFL Objects

On 14 May, 2008, Delaware Governor Jack Markell signed the Sports Betting legislation previously approved by the Delaware Senate.
But the NFL has already filed a brief with the Delaware State Supreme Court objecting to the legislation. A spokesman for the NFL implied that the league might bring legal action to have the law overturned.
The Governor hopes to open up sports betting in time for the 2009 NFL football season.
